The Joshua Owls fell into a three-way tie for third place in District 8-4A with a 6-1 loss to Arlington Seguin on Friday at Joshua High School.
The loss puts the Owls at 4-3 in district, along with Crowley and Granbury, while Seguin moved into a tie for first place with Stephenville at 5-2 in 8-4A play.
Joshua’s lone run came in the fourth inning when Blake Ballard drove in Joey Lynch to cut the lead to 5-1.
Ballard fell to 3-1 on the year.
The Owls traveled to College Station to play Little Cypress-Mauriceville in a nondistrict matchup on Saturday and lost 7-2 to fall to 13-9 on the season.
The Owls scored in the first inning after Matt Clause was driven in by Jordan Allen, and again in the sixth inning after a Colton Turner triple.
An RBI double from Cayden Cunniff scored Jonathan Newton, who ran for Turner in the sixth.
Weatherford 8,
Burleson 1
The Burleson Elks slipped to 2-4 in District 3-5A following a loss on Friday night against the Weatherford Kangaroos, which improved to 15-5 overall on the year and 5-1 in district.
Burleson was limited to three hits in the loss and managed its lone run in the bottom of the final inning off a Dennis Montes solo home run.
Josh Easley picked up the win for Weatherford and Shane Broyles fell to 3-2.
Sabo Murray doubled for Burleson. The Elks do not play tonight, but return to the field at Haltom on Thursday.
SOFTBALL
Godley 7,
Dallas Life 2
The Godley Lady Cats stayed unbeaten in District 15-2A play with a five-run victory over Dallas Life on Friday.
The win moved Godley to 17-2 and 4-0 in district.
The Lady Cats will try to improve to 5-0 against Palmer on the road at 6:30 p.m. today.
