Indians lose shoot out with Boswell
The Alvarado Indians traveled to face the Boswell Pioneers at Pioneer Stadium on Friday night.
What ensued was an offensive shootout that saw both teams combine for almost 1,000 total yards of offense in a 55-38 Boswell victory.
The fireworks started with a Ronnie Alford field goal that put the Pioneers up 3-0. Travis Pruitt caught one of four Thomas Head touchdown passes to give Alvarado a 7-3 lead.
Next, Boswell scored on a 30-yard pass from Quinton Gregory to Michael Shuford to regain the lead, 10-7.
Dante Lipscomb scored next for Boswell on a 7-yard run to pad the lead for the Pioneers at 17-7.
The Indians owned the next three scores on a 23-yard field goal from Rydge West to make it 17-10 and then Jerome Brown caught an 8-yard strike from Head to tie the score at 17-17. Head finished 18-of-31 for 353 yards for the game.
The next score for Alvarado came in similar fashion: A 4-yard toss to Brown from Head, however, the two-point conversion failed.
The Indians settled for a six point advantage at 23-17.
Boswell answered back on a 55-yard bomb to Shuford from Gregory and the PAT was successful to give the Pioneers a 24-23 lead.
The back and forth affair continued with Head throwing his fourth touchdown of the night to Tristian Fuentes for a 58-yard score.
The two-point conversion was successful this time around and Alvarado grabbed a 31-24 advantage.
But that would be the last offensive touchdown for the Indians.
Gregory then hit Shuford with another 10-yard strike and the successful PAT tied the game at 31-31.
Gregory finished 24-of-40 for Boswell with four touchdown passes.
He threw his final score of the night to Cameron Mavroulis from four yards out to give the Pioneers a 38-31 lead after the extra point. Nathan Donovan then recovered a blocked punt to tie the score again at 38-38, but Boswell would score three more times after that.
Alford kicked a 21-yard field goal to give the Pioneers a 41-38 lead.
Gregory ran for two more scores to close out the game and give Boswell the victory.
Boswell finished with 515 yards of total offense to the Indians’ 464.
Broam Hart finished with 115 yards on the ground on 17 carries and Brown finished with 151 yards on six catches and two scores.
