Godley routs Dublin, 63-0
GODLEY — The Godley Wildcats (2-0) pitched their second shutout of the 2009 season on Friday night, blanking the Dublin Lions (0-2), 63-0.
The Wildcats scored on all but one posession and controlled the tempo from the onset of the game.
Godley scored three touchdowns on its first eight plays and took a commanding 35-0 lead after the first quarter.
The Wildcat defense held Dublin to one first down in the first half and limited the Lions to minus 21 yards rushing for the game.
The Wildcats gave up just 17 total yards of offense to the lions.
Quarterback Riley Good started the scoring on a 39-yard run at 11:14 in the first quarter, and running back Landry Martinez added seven more on a 22-yard run with 9:44 left.
Dylan Benge scored on a 14-yard scamper at the 3:55 mark and Martinez scored again with five seconds left in the quarter.
Colton Mitchel pushed in from 5 yards out with 7:33 left in the second and Kolby Brown ended the first half scoring with a 12-yard run with 4:28 left in the second quarter.
Quarterback Rhett Brawner took over for Good in the second half and scored from 8 yards out with 3:01 left in the third.
Brown scored his second TD of the game at the 10:43 mark in the fourth to close out the scoring.
Dublin’s lone offense was provided by quarterback Justin Goodrick, who finished the night with 17 yards on the ground and 38 yards through the air on 3-of-11 passing.
