Springtown 31, Alvarado 21
The Springtown Porcupines jumped out to a 28-0 lead over Alvarado on Friday night, and held on for a 10-point victory to improve to 2-0. Alvarado slipped to 1-1 after its Zero Week win over Robinson (21-7).
The Indians were stymied on offense in the first half, and amassed just 54 total yards in the opening 24 minutes.
It wasn’t until the third quarter when Zach Ripley broke free for a 15-yard touchdown that the Indians got on the board for the first time.
Ripley added another run from a yard out in the fourth quarter, but 17 second-half points by Springtown erased any hopes of a comeback.
Ripley finished with 125 yards rushing on 20 carries.
