The Godley Wildcats used big plays on Friday night to rout Gunter on the road, and move to 3-0.
Landry Martinez scored three times on as many runs in the second quarter on touchdown scambers of 69, 93 and 53 yards as the Wildcats erased a 7-0 second quarter Gunter lead, and opened up a 27-7 advantage at halftime.
Clayton Lowe added an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown before the end of the second quarter, giving the Wildcats four scores on four big plays.
Martinez finished with 275 yards on 14 carries, and Godley racked up 431 rushing yards in the victory.
Gunter added another score in the third quarter, but the Wildcats piled it on in the second half after Kolby Brown returned a kickoff 80 yards for the touchdown.
Rhett Brawner added a 16-yard touchdown run, and Brown scored again from 50 yards out for the Wildcats.
Grandview 44, Chilton 12
The Grandview Zebras moved to 2-1 with a 32-point road victory over Chilton on Friday night.
Derek Jarrell finished 10-of-19 for 138 yards and tossed one interception to go along with his two touchdown passes in the victory.
The Zebras took a 13-0 first quarter lead after Beau Blakeney scored from four yards out, and Zach Clark added a 27-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.
In the second period, Daniel Spencer scored from two yards out to make it 20-0, but Chilton got on the board when Cruz Dominguez dashed in from 34 yards out.
Grandview turned the 20-6 halftime advantage into a 27-6 lead when Jarrell found Spencer from 45 yards out for the score.
Spencer added another 4-yard scoring scamper, and Bosher caught an eight-yard touchdown pass from Jarrell in the third.
Marty Grimes blasted a 49-yard field goal for the Zebras in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.
The Zebras outgained Chilton, 307-221 in total offensive yardage, and the Grandview defense forced four fumbles.
