2 Lady Elks voted to TSWA All-State Volleyball Team

BURLESON — Even though volleyball season has been over for nearly two months now, the awards keep rolling in for a couple of Burleson Lady Elks.

Burleson seniors Alana Hughes and Holly Milam were recently voted to the Texas Sports Writers Association/Collin Street Bakery all-state volleyball team.

Milam was also voted to the Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state volleyball team in December. Milam also was voted as the all-district and all-county MVP. Milam had 600 kills on a .567 hitting percentage with 51 aces, 149 blocks and 383 digs on the season.

Milam will continue her playing career at Dallas Baptist University.

Hughes, the Lady Elks’ setter and one of the best setters in the region, received the all-district and all-county setter of the year. She ended the season with 1,142 assists.

The duo helped guide the Lady Elks (39-5) to the District 8-4A title with an undefeated 14-0 record in league play before losing to Aledo in the Class 4A regional quarterfinals.
