Jackets compete in Granbury

Both Cleburne track teams competed in the Granbury meet on Friday.

The varsity boys finished in eighth place with 32 points, and the girls team finished in fourth with 89.5 points.

Alex Woody won the discus with a toss of 138 feet, two inches, and John Finnell finished with a throw of 110 feet, eight inches.

Woody also won the shotput with a throw of 47 feet, seven inches.

Tyler Chappell won the 3,200 for the third consecutive meet, and posted a time of 10:12 on Friday.

Tim McDonald clocked a time of 11:28.

Chappell placed second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:08, and McDonald finished in 2:26.

Woody ran the 100 meter dash in 12.01 seconds.

On the girls side, Denishia Tijernia won the discus with a throw of 116 feet, four inhces, and Mercedes Spann placed sixth with a toss of 95 feet, three inches.

Sarah Daughtry finished with a throw of 92 feet, four inches.

Daughtry placed fifth in the shotput with a toss of 32 feet, five inches.

Monika Hardemon placed third in the high jump after clearing four feet, 10 inches, and Bailey Hafford was sixth after jumping over four feet, six inches.

Makenzie Dodds came in with a leap of 14 feet, 11 3/4 inches in the long jump.

Hafford placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, 5 1/4 inches.

Hillary McNutt placed third in the 3,200 with a time of 12:46, and Layce Sloan was sixth in 13:21.

Hillary Hagan won the 800 with a time of 2:29, and McNutt was second with a mark of 2:32.

Sloan placed seventh in the 1,600 with a time of 6:08.

Marissa McCoy won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.62, and Dodds clocked a time of 12.94.

Hagan also won the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.65.

The 400 meter relay team of Ravon Westbrook, McCoy, Stephanie Morin and Dodds took fifth with a time of 52.66.

The 800 meter relay team of Westbrook, Morin, Dodds and McCoy finished fifth in 1:54.21.

The 1,600 meter relay team of Westbrook, Morin, McNutt and Hagan won the race with a time of 4:08.68.

    For the past seven seasons, he has served as the offensive coordinator for the Zebras under the tutelage of Aubrey Sims, helping guide stars such as Daniel Spencer and Reid Golson to collegiate careers.
    Earlier this year, Sims departed for a new job in Snyder, leaving Grandview in search of someone to lead the program.

    Stephenville snapped a 4-all tie with a run in the fifth inning, repulsed a Cleburne rally in the seventh and recorded a 5-4 win Friday night to send the best-of-three regional quarterfinal series to a third and deciding game at Waco Saturday.
