CLEBURNE —
Former Cleburne graduate and Yellow Jacket quarterback Scotty Walden, now the offensive coordinator at Sul Ross State University, will be speaking at the 2013 Nike Coach of the Year Clinic, held Feb. 7-9 in Dallas.
“I will be speaking about various aspects of our offense this past season from the running game to the passing game and how we practiced, among other things,” Walden said.
In his first season as the Lobos offensive coordinator, he coached Sul Ross to the No. 1 ranked offense in the NCAA. Last year, Walden was the quarterback for Sul Ross.
He is tentatively scheduled to speak at 10:30 a.m. Friday where he will discuss an overview of the Baylor-style system offense, specifically focusing on the running game. At 2:30 p.m. Friday, Walden is then scheduled to speak about the passing game of the Baylor-style system offense regarding practice organization for the system.
The clinic is for both college and high school coaches, and the leading speakers include TCU’s Gary Patterson, LSU’s Les Miles, Air Force’s Troy Calhoun, Virginia’s Mike London and former Syracuses head coach Doug Marrone, who recently agreed to become the Buffalo Bills’ head coach.
