Four new honorees were inducted into the Terrell Tiger Hall of Fame on Oct. 17. The foursome was honored at a luncheon and at that night’s football game against Red Oak at Memorial Stadium.
Jimmy Kelsey, of Cleburne, grew up in Terrell and graduated from Terrell High School in 1976. Kelsey was a member of the basketball and baseball teams in high school and was active in numerous school clubs.
Kelsey received all-district baseball honors during his senior season and came up a vote short of winning the district’s most valuable player as a pitcher and third baseman.
He set a single-game strikeout record at Terrell during his senior year, striking out 15 batters in a game against Bonham.
Kelsey played baseball at Blinn Junior College and East Texas Baptist University and posted a 23-7 record during his collegiate career.
His fastball was clocked at 92 mph.
Kelsey worked for TXU for 25 years and is currently employed by Impact Energy Services as field operations manager.
Kelsey married his high-school sweetheart, Danita Sue Brewer, in 1980 and the couple recently celebrated its 28th wedding anniversary.
They have four children, Jessica, Leighton, Jacob and Abby, and currently reside in Cleburne.
