Hardin-Simmons wins battle of former Jackets in Seguin

A trio of former Cleburne Yellow Jackets was on the field Saturday at Matador Stadium in Seguin as Hardin-Simmons University defeated Texas Lutheran 52-6.
After each team kicked a field goal early in the contest, the Cowboys closed the game with a 49-3 run.
Hardin-Simmons features two linemen from Cleburne. Adam Rodgers is a senior defensive tackle, and Seth Boles is a sophomore offensive guard.
On the home sideline, former Cleburne head coach Dennis Parker is the head coach at Texas Lutheran.

Briar Cliff 27
Dordt College 16

The Dordt Defenders lost to Briar Cliff 27-16 on Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa, falling to 1-8 overall and 1-7 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Former Cleburne quarterback Scotty Walden completed 9-of-27 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown. Walden also was the Defenders’ leading rusher in the contest, finishing with 27 yards on eight attempts.
Walden’s touchdown pass came on a 51-yard reception by Alex Henderson in the second quarter.
Former Joshua Owl Tagg McNeel rounded out the scoring for Dordt when he returned a fumbled extra point for a safety.

Kansas 52
Kansas State 21

Cleburne native Angus Quigley had a 7-yard touchdown run in the Kansas Jayhawks’ 52-21 victory over Kansas State on Saturday in Big 12 conference action.
Quigley finished with six carries for 38 yards. He averaged 4.7 yards per carry, with a long run of nine yards.

Montana State 20
Northern Colorado 7

Montana State improved to 5-4 on the season with a 20-7 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday in the Big Sky.
Cleburne graduate DeSean Thomas had two receptions in the contest for 17 yards for the Bobcats.
