Godley, Grandview compete in Zebrafest

— The Zebrafest Tournament in Grandview included two teams from the local area, the Grandview Lady Zebras and the Godley Lady Cats.
The Lady Zebras faced Millsap first and won in three games, 25-11, 25-27, and 25-15. They swept Bowie and Connally in two games by the scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-9, 25-15. Grandview swept Whitney 25-7 and 25-12 before losing to Leon 23-25, 16-25.
Grandview then fell to Quitman in three games 25-18, 23-25 and 23-25.
Godley lost to Bruceville-Eddy in the opener 16-25, 25-13 and 22-25. The Lady Cats responded with a victory over Kopperl 26-24, 21-25 and 25-13 and defeated Whitney 25-21, 23-25 and 28-26. In a match unrelated to the tournament, Godley defeated Milsap 25-15, 25-14 and 25-9.
The Lady Cats then defeated Bowie 23-25, 28-26 and 25-28 in gold bracket play and followed that performance by defeating Quitman 26-24, 23-25 and 25-23 to advance to the title match against Leon.
Leon swept the Lady Cats 20-25, 10-25 to win the title.
Rio Vista lost to Moody 10-25, 21-25 and 16-25 on Tuesday and lost to Hillsboro 15-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-17 and 6-15 on Thursday.
