Cleburne Golf Links ribbon cutting, open house set for Friday

The newly renovated Cleburne Golf Links will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday with a special guest on hand.

Dale Hansen, Channel 8 sports anchor and host of the Dale Hansen Sports Special television show, will be serving as the master of ceremonies for the event.

“He’s an avid golfer,” said Charlie Hodges, city of Cleburne spokesman. “He loves the game and plays a lot.

“He called while he was on vacation to confirm everything with us. We’re very lucky to have him.”

Hodges said golf professional Craig Nieman encourages city residents to attend the ribbon cutting and bring a utility bill as proof of residency.

Golfers will be entered into the course’s computer system at this time to speed up the process of registering as a city resident.

The cost for residents for weekday play is $32, including a cart.

In the summer, during daylight savings time, the afternoon rate of $27 begins after 2 p.m.

A discounted fee for seniors ages 55 and up or juniors 18 and under is $28 with a cart. The afternoon rate is $24.

For weekend and holiday play for residents, the cost is $40 in the morning and $32 for the afternoon rate.

Nonresidents pay $42 for weekday play, with the afternoon rate set at $37.

The nonresident seniors and juniors rate is $38, or $34 in the afternoon.

Weekend and holiday play for nonresidents is $50. The afternoon rate is $42 for nonresidents on holidays and weekends.

The afternoon rate begins an hour earlier in the fall when time reverts to standard time.

Frequent player packages also are available.

For $1,000, golfers may purchase the Bronze Package, which includes 50 weekday rounds, excluding holidays and tournaments.

The Gold Package, which costs $2,500, allows for unlimited play on any day of the week, excluding tournaments.

The packages are good for 12 months and are non-transferrable. The cost includes green fee and cart.
