Both Cleburne soccer teams were in action on Friday in tournament play.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 3-2-1 with wins over Joshua (3-0) and Marble Falls (3-0).
In the opener against the Owls, Jaziel Lucio scored the first goal and Edgar Charro scored the second off an assist from Francisco Tapia.
Ernesto Gustamante put in the final goal off an assist from Oscar Salinas.
In the second game against Marble Falls, Nelson Frias put in the first goal, Salinas scored the second goal and Charro put in the third.
The Yellow Jackets were back in action on Saturday against Waco High but results were not available at presstime.

In Joshua’s second game, the Owls took down Waco High, 5-3.
Alexis Noriega scored twice for the Owls as did Ryan Kunkel. Will Campbell scored a goal in the victory.
The Cleburne Lady Jackets beat Fort Worth North Side, 5-0, on Friday.
Brianna Reband scored the first goal off an assist from Taylor Bicknell and the second off an assist by Becca Long.
Cheyenne Moore put in Cleburne’s third score off an assist from Brandy Villasana, Charity Gonzalez scored the fourth off an assist from Alexis Morton and Morton scored the last goal for Cleburne off an assist by Bicknell.
Cleburne played at 1:30 Saturday against Mineral Wells to conclude tournament play but results weren’t available at presstime.

Tuesday night update: Lady Elks fall to Birdville
After Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to Birdville in the regional quarterfinals, Burleson girls’ soccer Head Coach Doug Ketcham said he could handle losing to a team which was better than his upstart squad of Lady Elks.

Elks fall to North Side, 4-3
Burleson ran out of postseason magic on Friday night at Herman Clark stadium in the sectional round of the Class 4A playoffs against Fort Worth North Side.
After taking a 3-1 lead with 11 minutes to go, North Side, the champions of District 13-4A, scored twice in the final minutes to force overtime. North Side’s Juan Rodriguez put in the eventual game-winning goal in the 87th minute, sending the upstart Elks, who used a late-season surge to qualify for the playoffs, home with a stunning loss. -
Lady Elks edge Granbury, 1-0
The Burleson Lady Elks keep finding ways to win. They did it again in the sectional round of the Class 4A girls’ soccer playoffs on Friday at Burleson Stadium with a 1-0 win over District 16-4A champion Granbury.
