PARKLAND, FL (RNN) – Hundreds of people in Parkland, FL, gathered Thursday evening at a vigil for the victims of a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High school that left 17 people dead.
In the midst of a heated re-election campaign, Parker County Republican Party Chair Zan Prince this week announced endorsements from U.S. Rep. Kay Granger, U.S. Rep. Roger Williams and the majority of the county party’s precinct chairs.
A candidate forum was held at Jacksonville College Monday night. The forum drew many different candidates from various local offices, such as the Republican Party county chair, Cherokee County commissioners for Precincts 2 and 4, Cherokee County Judge and the 369th district judge. Josie Schoolcraft, of the Cherokee County Republican Club, said there were about 75 people in attendance. Each candidate was given several minutes to introduce themselves and their platforms, and also answered questions from Murray Smith, the moderator of the forum.
