Homebuilders’ group forming at church
Calvary Baptist Church, 700 Woodard Ave. in Cleburne, is starting a new ministry with the goal of building families that love God and have a desire to live in a way that brings glory to him.
God has given us the instructions for building families that stay together, play together and pray together. The theme verse for the new ministry is found in Joshua 24:15, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
The Homebuilders’ class will meet at 10 a.m. each Sunday for Sunday school. They will also be encouraged to attend a small group Bible study scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the home of Dwight and Carrie Phillips, 5408 CR 1124 in Godley.
Bible study curriculum developed by Family Life Ministries will include topics such as raising children to be disciples of Jesus, managing finances God’s way and making Christ the center of our home. Time for fun and fellowship will also be planned.
The Phillipses will be the directors of the new ministry. They have been married for 18 years and have four children. They have been active members of Calvary Baptist for eight years and have taught a class for couples for the last five years. They are also involved in the Calvary Awana ministry.
Dwight, formerly employed as a manufacturing engineer with Lockheed Martin, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, master’s in business administration, both from the University of Texas in Arlington, and is pursuing his master’s in Christian studies through Luther Rice Seminary.
Carrie teaches sixth grade at Boulevard Baptist Christian School in Burleson. They would like to extend a special invitation to the citizens of Cleburne and Johnson County to come and be a part of this exciting ministry. For information, call them at 817-648-0161.
October is revival time at Calvary Baptist. There will be special guest speakers during each Sunday during the month. The Rev. Dan Knickerbocker will speak on Sunday, evangelist Allen Hatch will speak on Oct. 11, Clyde Spain will speak on Oct. 18, and the Rev. Michael Graham will be the guest speaker on Oct. 25. Each service begins at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to Sunday school at 10 a.m., morning worship at 8:45 and 11 a.m., evening worship at 7 p.m. Sundays and prayer meeting and Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. The Awana ministry begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Free nursery service and transportation is available for all Sunday services. Pastor Charles Payne speaks in the morning services. For information, call 817-645-7758.
