Display makes statement on abortion
Members of Ascension Lutheran Church, 205 S. Ridgeway Drive in Cleburne placed 3,287 crosses in the church’s front yard.
This figure is the average number of abortions performed each day in the United States.
“The city of Cleburne would be wiped out in just under 10 days — what a loss of great potential,” said Pastor Joe Ardy.
“People may not realize what those numbers really mean,” said member Jean Amundson, who is president of Texas Lutherans for Life.
Ardy said many people are hurt by abortion, including the family and friends.
“This is why we have commissioned Jean Amundson into a ministry of post-abortion counseling,” he said. “People are hurting, and there is hope for them through repentance and forgiveness in Jesus Christ. We want hurting people to know that there is a place where we will walk with them through the pain to a place of hope and grace. Jean is a great blessing because she has had an abortion and knows what peace comes through repentance and forgiveness.”
Amundson is also a volunteer with the Cleburne Pregnancy Center.
The display will remain through the end of January.
