Nolan River Church of Christ welcomes new minister



Tim Stevens is the new minister at Nolan River Church of Christ in Cleburne.

Stevens graduated from Cleburne High and Tarleton State University.

The church is located at 1705 Longfellow, about two blocks south of Country Club Road off Nolan River Road and across from Smith Middle School.

New cowboy church to hold first worship service



The Three Nails Cowboy Church will have its first public worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Three Nails has been holding core group and Bible study meetings, as well as band practice in preparation for Sunday’s service.

The church’s temporary location is 3101 N. Main St. Cleburne.

Women’s fellowship to hold first meeting



Christian Women’s Fellowship will meet for the first time from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Joshua Community Room at the Joshua high school campus at 907 S. Broadway in Joshua.

Participants are asked to bring a finger food to share. Drinks are provided.

Dress is casual, and no child care will be provided.

Book sale benefits breast cancer research



A book sale benefitting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 17 at First United Methodist Church in Cleburne.

Books of various genres will be available for sale.

The Komen Foundation provides education about breast cancer and raises funds to support research to find a cure for the disease.
