Christian Business Club to meet

Missy Nelson, executive director of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Johnson County, will speak at the Monday meeting of Cleburne Christian Business Club, set for 6:50 a.m. in the Student Center at Hill College Johnson County Campus in Cleburne.

The morning will open with fellowship at 6:30 a.m. followed by the program. Joe Ardy, pastor of First Ascension Lutheran Church, will lead the congregational singing with Hillard Cochran bringing the special music.

Nelson, who has worked with CASA for more than two years, started out with the agency as a volunteer before joining the staff. She spent 20 years in engineering and management, working with General Dynamics, the Federal Aviation Administration and her own engineering company. She has a degree in electrical engineering technology from Texas Tech University.

She and her husband, Rod, and their son, Brady, are members of First United Methodist Church, where she serves in prayer and children’s ministries, Vacation Bible School, Upward Sports and the Walk to Emmaus program. She is also a member of the church’s Bells of Praise handbell choir.

First Baptist Church youth choir to present dinner theater

The youth choir of First Baptist Church of Cleburne will present a dinner theater at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Christian Activities Building at 105 E. Willingham. The choir will perform the musical “Entertaining Angels.”

The advance ticket price is $15 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20. Advance tickets may be purchased from any youth choir member or the First Baptist Church office.

“Entertaining Angels” includes dinner catered by Lemon Sisters and a play presented by the youth choir.

The play is a musical comedy featuring contemporary Christian songs.

In “Entertaining Angels” four angels “in training” decide to embark on a mission to help people, leading to a series of humorous mishaps as they realize they need to follow the angel directive, “Never do anything without receiving instruction first.”

All proceeds from the play will be used for the youth mission trip to Panama on July 22-29.

For information or ticket sales, call the church office at 817-645-6684 or stop by the church office.
