ALVARADO — Will Rogers Upchurch, 83, of Alvarado, went to be with Jesus on March 20, 2014. Will was born March 2, 1931, in Cleburne, Texas, at Walter Burton’s Place to Joseph A. Upchurch and Luella Williams.
He was a farmer for many years and then went on to be a truck driver for Johnson County, where he worked for 30 years. He was a devoted Christian who loved to spend time with family and friends. Will was greatly loved and will be missed by many
Will is survived by his wife Janie of 64 years; brothers, Gerald Barrow and Leslie Barrow; sisters, Arleta McGlothin, Teressa Sharp, Brenda Bassinger and Linda Martin; children, Dorothy and James Daugherty, Henry and Nancy Upchurch, Roger Upchurch, Lois and Leonard O’Pry, Lillie and Curtis Erwin, John and Margaret Upchurch and David and Rhonda Upchurch; 42 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home. Interment followed the service at Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation was held at 10 a.m. before the service.
