Services for Hampton Eugene Walker Sr., 91, of Keene will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, in Keene Seventh-day Adventist Chapel. The Rev. Russ Laughlin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Keene Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Walker passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, in Keene. He was born to Hamp and Edith Sanford Walker on March 15, 1919, in St. Helena, Calif. He married Ruby P. Lodahl on June 29, 1941, in Angwin, Calif. Hampton served as a missionary to Brazil for more than 25 years, a minister, teacher and youth minister with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a kind, gentle and thoughtful man who was always friendly. He has been described as being “Mr. Enthusiasm” and optimistic. Hampton’s good sense of humor, unwavering faith and inspirational spirit will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ruby P. Walker.
Survivors include his daughter, Laurel Jeanne Steen; son, Hampton Eugene Walker Jr. and wife, Gracie; grandchildren and their spouses, Brenda and Barry, Durkin and Jennie, Travis and Judith, and Valorie; great-grandchildren, Jaydon and Ashlyn; brother, Frances Walker; sister, Evelyn Norheim; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
