Services for Narcissus Margaret “Phebe” Horne Whipp, 95, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles E. Payne will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Earl Sides. Burial will be in Prices Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Whipp passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, in Cleburne. She was born June 22, 1918, in Duncanville to Benjimin and Bennie Anne Emerson Horne. She married John Bascom “Buster” Whipp on Oct. 14, 1938, in Duncanville, and John preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1996.
Phebe, or “Mammer,” as she was known to her grandchildren, was a homemaker who always had cookies in her cookie jar. She loved to read her Bible and won the Times-Review Bible Quiz several times. Phebe was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her three daughters, Marilyn Bell and husband, Paul, of Godley, Laura Baize and husband, Lloyd, of Cleburne and Carol Johnson and husband, Herman, of Sand Flat; son-in-law, Bill Bonham; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and brother, G.W. “Pat” Horne and wife, Edna, of Point.
Phebe was also preceded in death by her parents; a son and daughter-in-law, George David and Debbie Whipp; daughter, Linda Bonham; and a brother, James Horne.
