Norma Jean (Doan) Evans, 85, of Cleburne, passed away Tuesday.
She was born to the late Ernest and Ethel (DeHart) Doan, on July 19, 1928, in Indianapolis, Ind. Norma graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1946. She married the late Raymond Evans in 1947, and they lived together in Indianapolis before relocating to Texas in 1981.
Norma held administrative positions with RCA and Maul Technology in Indianapolis. She retired from Vanguard Services in 1999, where she managed the Arlington, Texas, office. Norma was a highly-valued administrator and was loved by the drivers and those who worked with her at Vanguard’s corporate headquarters in Indianapolis.
Norma was an active member of Field Street Baptist Church (Francis Scott Class) since 2004 and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband; two siblings, Juanita Jordan and Ernest Jr.; a son, Alan Lee Evans; and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Marie Sprott.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Raymond and Mary Evans of Arlington, Steven and Michele Evans of Grand Prairie, James and Robin (Evans) Keller of Overland Park, Kan., and N. Scott Evans of Arlington. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Angela Sprott (Katie, Ethan, Caden), Christopher Evans, Brooke Evans, Erica Bier (Emma, John), Jessica Keller, Ryan Evans (Charlie, Symbri) and Jason Evans.
Norma’s four surviving siblings are Betty Hogan and Linda Barnes of Indianapolis, James Doan of Burleson, Texas, and Larry Michael Doan of Valparaiso, Ind.
Norma will be remembered as a faithful Christian, loving wife and mother, supportive sister, doting grandmother and the strong cord that held her immediate and extended family so closely together through the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Field Street Baptist Church, 201 N. Field St., Cleburne, TX 76033.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at Field Street Baptist Church.
