Billie Louise Bucher

Services for Billie Louise Bucher, 83, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will follow the service. The Rev. Randy McLelland will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at Rosser Funeral Home.

Billie, a retired registered nurse, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went home to be with the Lord and her beloved parents on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, in Fort Worth.

She was born April 25, 1923, in Cleburne to Ellis R. and Woodie Marie Barbee Mayes. She graduated from Cleburne High School in 1941 and after living in California for many years, returned to Cleburne and received her nursing degree from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.

Billie worked as an RN for the next 35 years in several Cleburne area hospitals and nursing homes. In her late 70s, Billie was still working as the charge nurse on weekends at a nursing home and in her spare time played piano with the Sunshine band. The band played gospel and other music for various nursing homes in the Cleburne area. Billie was a wonderful friend and mentor to many people, and was very strong in her Christian faith.

She is survived by her son, David Bucher and wife, Susan, of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Katie Bucher of Fort Worth; brothers, Robert W. Mayes and wife, Joyce and Melvin L. “Buck” Mayes and wife, Billie Ruth, all of Fort Worth; stepson, Charles Bucher and wife, Mary Alice, of Houston; and many nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren, and stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Huguley Nursing Home and the Community Hospice staff for giving Nana such excellent, tender and loving care during the last few months of her life.
