Butch Kubicek

Services for Butch Kubicek, 60, of Cleburne will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at Field Street Baptist Church. The Rev. John Glover and the Rev. Joe Stephens will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in DFW National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Tucker, Ken Bush, John Millsap, Scott Griffin, Tim Irish and Carl Irish.

Mr. Kubicek passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, in Cleburne. He was born Dec. 20, 1945, in Stephenville, Texas, to Ludvik F. and Frankie Lee Traylor Kubicek. He married Shalimar Villanueva on Nov. 23, 1983, in Galveston.

Mr. Kubicek was a system manager in the electronics industry and a member of Field Street Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Club of Johnson County.

Butch Kubicek is survived by his wife, Shalimar Kubicek of Cleburne; son, James Luke Kubicek of Cleburne; brother, Ronald Dale Kubicek and wife, Debra, of Cleburne; sister, Barbara Jo Hinds of Stephenville; stepfather, LeRoy Griffin of Stephenville; nieces, Teri Lynn Wilson of Seagraves, Texas, and Ashley Michelle Kubicek of Cleburne; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cleburne Funeral Home.

Leroy “Pops” Vaughn Sr.

Funeral services for Leroy Vaughn Sr., 63, of Cleburne, Texas, were conducted at 10 a.m. today, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Weldon Coble officiated. Burial followed at Derden Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at Rosser Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers were David Millikan, Donnie Freeman, Gill Vaughn, Henry Vaughn, Charlie Vaughn Sr., Anthony Shirkey, Charlie Vaughn Jr. and Curtis Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Vaughn Jr., Michael Cogdill and Junior Abbott.

Leroy Vaughn was born in Cleburne, Texas, on Nov. 10, 1942, to Henry Gillian Vaughn and Frankie Lee Robinson Vaughn. He passed away on Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, in Fort Worth. “Pops,” as he was known to family and friends, was a milk truck driver. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Leroy is survived by his special friend, Sue Wilkerson of Cleburne; daughters, Twyna Sampson, Shelly Jackson and Brandy Dugan, all of Cleburne, and Carey Sullivan of Louisiana; sons, Leroy Vaughn Jr., Caven Vaughn and Michael Cogdill, all of Cleburne, David Millikan and Donnie Freeman, both of Fort Worth; brothers; Tommy Vaughn of Burleson, Robert Vaughn of Oklahoma, Gill Vaughn of Godley and Henry Vaughn of West; one sister, Helen Styron of Cleburne; aunt, Lavada Watson; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Frankie Lee Vaughn; brother, Henry Lee Vaughn; sister, Verna Jane Kirby; and grandson, Sterling Denson Dean Freeman.

Michael P. Butler

Michael P. (Mike) Butler, 55, of New London died Sunday morning at his home after a sudden illness. He was born Dec. 21, 1950, in Elyria, Ohio. He moved to Godley, Texas, in 1980 where lived for 10 years. He had lived in the New London area since the early 1990s.

Mr. Butler worked for Chemlawn out of Elyria, and was a horse ranch manager while living in Texas. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse and American Paint Horse associations, and the National Street Machine Club of which he showed his cars at car shows and cruise-ins. He had been a 4-H adviser for the Flying Hoofs Club of Lorain County.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathy (Will) Butler; son, Ty Butler; mother, Patricia (Goode) Butler of Wellington; and a brother, Greg Butler of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1999, Merlin Butler.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Eastman Funeral Home with Pastor Cathy Ake of the New London United Methodist Church officiating. There will be a time of sharing from 1 p.m. until the service begins.

Effie Carver

Services for Effie Carver, 86, of Keene, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at East Side Chapel Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas, with Pastor John Griswell and the Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial will be in Hickery Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Carver passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro, Texas. She was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Duncan, Okla., the daughter of Lemuel Oran and Ruby Viola (Patton) Henry.

As an infant, she moved to Vernon, Texas, and grew up there. She and her older brother helped raise and provide for their other six siblings. She married Doug Carver on her birthday, Nov. 22, 1947, in Electra, Texas. They lived in Vernon until 1952.

After a year in west Texas farming, they settled in Fort Worth. They lived in Keene since 1961. She worked for Brandoms Cabinet Manufacturing for eight years. She served as a deaconess in the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was a longtime member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, L.O. Henry and Oran Henry; and an infant sister, Dolly Henry.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Carver of Keene; four children, Diane Johnson and husband, Dr. Skip Johnson of Hillsboro, Dennis Carver of Lawton, Okla., Doyle Carver and wife, Elisa, of Keene and Dan Carver of Keene; brother, Howard Henry and wife, Peggy of Vernon; three sisters, Helen Latham of Houston; Lois Moore and husband, Bill of Faxon, Okla., and Joan Gilley and husband, Troy of Lawton, Okla.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Carver of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Shannon Hinkle and husband, Kevin of Cleburne; Brent Taylor of Lafayette, La., and Angela Carver of Chattanooga, Tenn.; great-granddaughter, Arden Genore of Cleburne; and several nieces and nephews.

CLEBURNE — A.A. Bryant, 92, a retired aerospace assembly worker, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, in Cleburne.

Funeral: Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Acton Cemetery. He was preceded in death by wives Bethel Bryant and Cleta Bryant; and a grandson, Kent Bryant.

Bradley Knight

Bradley Knight was born on Dec. 14, 1985, and went to be with the Lord on Dec. 24, 2005. He was a member of the first graduating class of McKinney North High School in May 2004. He was employed by the city of Plano; a member of the Baptist faith, attending First Baptist Church of McKinney.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sarah Roach; great-grandmother, Mary Leberman; and great-grandfather, George Roach.

He is survived by his parents, Russell and Tammy Knight; sisters, Cassy and Katie Knight; grandparents, Rodney and Joan Knight of Cleburne, Texas, and James and Karen Roach of Pearland, Texas; uncles Steve Knight and Jeff Knight, both of Fort Worth, Texas; aunts and uncles, Tanya and Karl Taylor of McKinney, Texas, Tom and Sheri Roach of Rosenbury, Texas, and numerous other family and friends.

Don Roy Fuller

Don Roy Fuller, 72, a retiree of the U.S. Navy, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2005.

Memorial services will be held today in Arkansas.

Survivors are wife, Lotty Fuller; two daughters, Pam Bonham and Diane Moon; brother, Tommy Fuller; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Fuller; father, Wallace Fuller; and grandson, Cody Moon.

Mrs. Vasquez was born on Jan. 3, 1937, in Buckholtz, Texas, to Felipe Vasquez and Maria Anquiano Vasquez. She passed away on Dec. 25, 2005, in Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Vasquez was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Robles, and wife, Christy, of North Richland Hills and Joshua Corpus of Burleson; sisters, Juanita Robles of Allen and Dolores Rodriguez of Lubbock; brother, Jesse Vasquez of Fort Worth; niece, Sandra Robles of McKinney; grandchildren, Alyssa, Annette, Andrew, Annika, Angela and Janie; 10 great-grandchildren; several other nieces and nephews; and special friend, Felipe Corpus.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susie Alvarado; granddaughter, Amanda Alvarado; and her brother, Manuel Vasquez.

Velma Lucille Barnes

Services for Velma Lucille Barnes, 76, of Moffat were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dossman Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Williams and Dr. Rodney Kruse officiating. Burial followed in Moffat Cemetery.

Mrs. Barnes died Monday in a Temple nursing home.

She was born Nov. 6, 1929, to Henry Jasper “Jack” and Lola Lueller (Williams) Barnes. She was a lifetime resident of Bell County and has lived in Moffat for most of that time. She married J.B. Barnes on June 20, 1947, in Belton, Texas. She was active in the Moffat Community Center Association and the Moffat Cemetery Association.

Survivors include three sons, Jim Barnes and wife, Brenda of Cleburne, Keith Barnes of Temple and Jackie Barnes and wife, Liz of Burleson; grandchildren Alison Barnes of Los Angeles, Calif., J. Brandon Barnes of Temple, Rider and Lincoln Barnes of Cleburne, Justin and Jennifer Barnes of Burleson and Clint and Courtney McFarland of Burleson.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dossman Funeral Home.
