Muriel Edna Snoddy, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 in Denison, Texas. She was born Dec. 19, 1940, in Knox City, Texas, to Mark and Melvita Saunders. She made a lifelong dedication to helping others by becoming a registered nurse. She worked for many years in the nurseries at McKinney Medical Center and John Peter Smith Hospital. She also worked for the Alvarado Nursing Home and ended her career as a school nurse for the Alvarado Independent School District.
Muriel changed many children’s lives by being a foster parent, as well as donating money through Compassion International. She loved her Texas Rangers. Raising and showing Great Pyrenees dogs was a favorite past time of hers. Muriel was a wonderful cook and many wonderful memories were made in her kitchen.
She was survived by her sons, John Jason Snoddy of Cleburne, Texas, and Matthew Blake Snoddy of Fort Worth, Texas; step-sons, Richard Snoddy and wife, Ceil, of Sadler, Texas, Ronnie Sims and wife, Bonnie, of League City, Texas, and Dick Sims of Robert Lee, Texas; step-daughter, Lorraine Foster and husband, Garry, of Arlington, Texas; brother, John Lane Gann and wife, Susan, of Alvarado, Texas; sister, Melodye Brooks of Grandview, Texas; grandchildren, Steven Snoddy, Christopher Snoddy, Ryan Snoddy, Michael Hale and Andrea Anderson; along with numerous great-grandchildren who thought the world of her.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Beau Snoddy; step-son, Gary Snoddy; and brother, Mark Saunders.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Clayton Kay-Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado with Pastor Jerry Henry of Sadler Baptist Church officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Clayton Kay-Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel.
