Mildred White Hewlett

Services for Mildred White Hewlett will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. B.B. Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in George’s Creek Cemetery.



Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.



Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steve Bramblett, Charlie Edwards, Luke Edwards, Justin Hewlett, Ben Hewlett, Jeff Hewlett and Ken Hewlett.



Mildred Alice White Hewlett passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital in Cleburne. She was born Sept. 25, 1910, in the Buck Creek community of Somervell County to G.O. and Minnie Wisdom White. She was a resident of the Chisholm Trail Retirement Center in Keene, Texas, where she loved to play 42.



Mildred was a 1929 graduate of Cleburne High School and Tarelton State College. She married her longtime sweetheart, Clarence T. Hewlett on Dec. 24, 1930. They resided in the Lone Willow Community southwest of Cleburne.



Besides being a farm wife and mother, Mildred taught school in the Buck Creek School and Highland-Freeland Community School. She also worked in dietary services at Memorial Hospital in Cleburne. She was a longtime faithful member of the Central Church of Christ in Cleburne.



Survivors include two daughters, Elwyn Bramblett of Memphis, Tenn., and Donna Edwards and husband, Donnie, of Meridian; two sons, Jack Hewlett and wife, Elizabeth, of Cleburne, and Mike Hewlett and wife, Jan, of Fort Worth, Texas. Also surviving her are 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.



Preceding her in death were her parents, G.O. and Minnie White; her husband, Clarence T. Hewlett in 1985; and one son, Dennis Hewlett in 1992. Also preceding her were three brothers, Sam White, Weldon White, and Alvin White and one sister, Elwyn White.



Memorials may be made to the George’s Creek Cemetery Association, c/o Earl Whitehead, secretary/treasurer, 204 S. Washington St., Cleburne, TX 76033.
