Cleburne a base for Catholic unity

“We are the beginning of a healing,” said Charles Hough III with a smile. “This is wonderful.”

Hough is a newly ordained Catholic priest. He was ordained with his son, Charles Hough IV, on June 30. But what makes this unique — other than a father and son being ordained at the same time — is that Hough is a former Anglican priest, and was for more than 30 years.

Hough is now able to lead Cleburne’s new St. John Vianney church — named for the patron saint of priests — in Catholic Mass. The church extends to the city of Granbury, where they meet in the old parish hall at St. Frances Cabrini. Hough, his son, and four others were ordained together by Bishop Kevin Vann to serve the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, the new United States ordinariate for former Episcopalians.
