Alleged convenience store robber arrested

Grandview man receives 80 years

Returning to the scene of the alleged crime cost a Joshua man his freedom Saturday night.

Cleburne police responded at 10:50 p.m. to a convenience store in the 3700 block of North Main Street and arrested Thomas Bledsoe, 26.

An employee called police based on the fact that Bledsoe allegedly robbed the same store on June 6 at which time he displayed a knife and demanded cash.

Police on Saturday night retrieved bandanas and a knife on Bledsoe’s person believed to be the same knife employed the night of the original robbery.

Police charged Bledsoe with aggravated robbery in connection with the original robbery and attempted aggravated robbery in connection with his presence at the store Saturday night.

Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Ronny McBroom on Sunday set Bledsoe’s bonds at $25,000 on the aggravated robbery charge and $10,000 on the attempted robbery charge.

Bledsoe also had a revocation of supervision on a bond for an underlying offense of possession of a controlled substance, McBroom said, a charge which McBroom placed a no bond status on.

Grandview man sentenced

Jurors in the 249th District Court sentenced a Grandview man to 80 years in prison on Friday for committing sexual crimes against a child.

Jurors found Ronald Gene Grizzle Jr., 50, guilty on five counts on Thursday following a four-day trial.

They sentenced Grizzle to 60 years in jail on a count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and 10 years each on two counts of indecency with a child by contact. The sentences run consecutively and Grizzle must serve at least 40 years before becoming eligible for parole, court officials said.

Jurors also sentenced Grizzle to probation on two counts of indecent exposure and assessed monetary fines against him.

The convictions stem from crimes committed in 2011, officials said.

Grand theft wheelchair

Police responded to a theft call at 12:12 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of Pipeline Road. Someone stole a woman’s motorized Jazzy wheelchair from the hallway near the front door of her apartment as well as a tote bag containing supplies.
