Moser qualifies for Talent Search
Rilee Moser, the 7th-grade daughter of Scott Moser of Bulverde and Susan Whittington of Johnson City and granddaughter of Norman and Mary Moser of Cleburne, recently qualified for participation in this year’s Talent Search for mathematically and verbally advanced students sponsored by Duke University’s Talent Identification Program.
To be eligible, students must have a scale score of 2864, a perfect score, on TAKS math and/or a scale score of 2820, a perfect score, on the reading section of the TAKS. They can choose to sit for the Scholastic Aptitude Test or ACT Assessment, normally taken only by college-bound juniors and seniors, in December, January or February.
Many of these students score as well as or better than the average college-bound senior on these measures. All participants receive certificates of merit and some become eligible for state-wide recognition ceremonies or a variety of educational programs.
TIP, established in 1980, has provided thousands of students with information about their abilities and educational options. The purposes of the program are to help academically bright student develop their special abilities, to assist schools in working with their brightest students, and to understand the nature of exceptional mathematical and verbal ability.

AHS grad completes Air Force training
Air Force Airman Richard J. Reflogal graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Reflogal completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the grandson of Robert Reflogal of Burleson, Texas, and nephew of Sherri Sparks of Alvarado.
Reflogal is a 2007 graduate of Alvarado High School.

Sheriff’s office investigating burglaries
Authorities are investigating an attempted burglary on Farm-to-Market 917 in Mansfield on Nov. 15, according to Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Someone attempted to gain entry into the complainant’s business and damaged a glass window in a door.
Also Nov. 15, items valued at $1,409 were removed from a residence on County Road 405 in Alvarado.
Reported taken were a circular saw valued at $150, and Earthquake 43 auger valued at $708, assorted tools valued at $200, a green toolbox with tools valued at $75, a black tool box valued at $100, two saws of unknown value, drills valued at $75, a two-ton winch with cable valued at $100, and fencing supplies, hammers, iron pieces, and compact radio with detached speakers of unknown value.

The Cleburne Yellow Jackets beat Burleson, 62-48, on Friday night at Yellow Jacket Gym to move to 2-7 in District 7-A play. Burleson fell to 2-7 in league play with the loss.

Fallen deputy Clifton Taylor’s sister, Megan Davis, takes a picture of a painting of her brother on Monday during a dedication to the deputy. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office renamed its building to the Clifton Taylor Law Enforcement Center in honor of the deputy who lost his life during a disturbance call in April. The picture was painted by Fort Worth artist Gary Crouch. Three pictures were made and one will hang in the Clifton Taylor Law Enforcement Center. The other two paintings were presented as gifts to Taylor’s parents and his fiancee.
