Cleburne police seek hit-and-run drivers

The information in the following story is taken from public records on file at the Cleburne Police Department.

Cleburne Police are seeking information on three drivers involved in three hit-and-run accidents.

A person involved in a traffic accident on Monday near Westhill Drive and Colonial Drive fled the scene and may have entered Coleman Elementary.

A witness told police the man ran into the school, said CPD Sgt. Amy Knoll said.

Officials locked the school down for about 40 minutes and searched the premises in an unsuccessful attempt to locate the driver.

Knoll said the man may have run in the school and back out or may not have entered the school at all.

Police subsequently determined the vehicle driven by the man was owned by someone else.

A parked truck received damage in a traffic accident that occurred about 1 a.m. on Friday. The accident occurred in the 1200 block of Surry Place Drive.

A dark gray Ford pickup of unknown model traveling east on Surry Place Drive left the road and struck a light pole, then fled the scene. A part of the light fell onto a parked GMC Yukon.

A Saturday accident resulted in damage to a wooden fence dividing a car wash parking lot and a residence.

The accident occurred at about 10:35 p.m. on the 1200 block of North Main Street.

A red or maroon car of unknown make and model driving through the parking lot lost control and struck the fence before taking off.

Beer and music

An unknown man entered a convenience store on the 500 block of West Kilpatrick Street at 7:03 p.m. Saturday, grabbed some beer and ran.

The same thing occurred 22 minutes later at a convenience store on the 1100 block of East Henderson Street.

A business owner on the 100 block of East Henderson Street reported at 6:01 a.m. Sunday that someone broke a window at his business and made off with six cases of beer.

Police responded to the 3000 block of Celeste Road on Thursday and Friday mornings. In both cases, owners reported that someone broke into their vehicles and stole CD radios and CDs.

Theft calls

Police responded to the construction site of the Cleburne Conference Center on West Henderson Street at 8:32 a.m. Monday. Someone stole a red, 12-foot flatbed trailer from the site.

On Thursday, a business on the 3600 block of North Main Street reported that someone stole various drill heads, worth about $25,000, sometime between Oct. 24-25.

On Friday, a woman reported that while she was away her daughter let another woman into their home on the 1000 block of Sandstone Drive. They believe the woman entered a bedroom and stole about $1,700 worth of jewelry.

A woman on the 2000 block of Granbury Street reported on Sunday that someone stole $1,000 from her home.

Assault calls

Police reported to an assault in progress on Friday on the 200 block of Royal Street.

A man allegedly forcibly prevented a woman who was trying to leave from doing so. Police arrested Andre Alfred, 26, of Cleburne on a charge of unlawful restraint.

Police responded to another assault call at 12:24 a.m. Saturday on the 1300 block of Joslin Street. Several men allegedly hit another man several times but fled before police arrived.
