Orr conducts promotion ceremony

State Rep. Rob Orr, R-Burleson joined the Johnson County Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol on Sunday at the Cleburne Municipal Airport to conduct a promotion ceremony.

Cadet Joseph Gould was promoted to cadet staff sergeant.

“You each started life as a winner and have continued that path by being here,” Orr said. “As long as you do what is expected, and a little more, you will succeed in life.”

Orr discussed the importance of leadership with the cadets before assisting Capt. Dan Hunt to pin Gould with his new rank.

Gould, 17, lives near Rio Vista. The home schooled student is also taking college credit courses at Hill College in Cleburne.

Gould said he hopes to earn a degree in mechanical engineering from a Texas college and hopes to earn a U.S. Air Force commission through Air Force ROTC. Gould’s ultimate desire is to fly fighter aircraft for the Air Force, he said.

The Johnson County Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol meets from 3-7 p.m. every Sunday in Building 105 on the north end of the Cleburne Municipal Airport.

The group welcomes members of the public to all meetings.

For information, call Hunt at 817-903-5044.
