3 more arrested in Cleburne murder

Cleburne police arrested three additional suspects in connection with a Thursday morning murder investigation.

Those arrests include Howard Blain Dudley, 54, of Cleburne on a charge of tampering with evidence; Joseph Alvarez, 29, of San Angelo on a charge of tampering with evidence; and Kimberly Dudley, 56, of Cleburne on charges of tampering with evidence and possession of dangerous drugs.

Howard Blain Dudley is the son of Cleburne downtown businessman Howard Dudley. It is unclear whether Kimberly Dudley is the daughter or daughter-in-law of Howard Dudley.

Police responded at 5:15 a.m. Thursday to what reports describe as a business-residence at the intersection of Shaffer and South Main streets on reports of shots fired. At the location, they discovered the body of Brian Poole, 30, of Mesquite. Poole was wrapped or tied in a blanket and had two gunshot wounds to the right side of his forehead, according to Cleburne Fire Department reports.

Johnson County Apprasial District records list the building's address as 401 S. Main St. and list the building owner as Gloria Short.

Police later that day arrested James Anthony Sample, 31, of Dallas on charges of murder, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He and the others subsequently arrested remain in custody at the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center.

Police interviewed several individuals located at or near the scene concerning the events that led to the shooting and investigation into the case remains ongoing, Cleburne Police Department Detective Kelly Summey said on Thursday afternoon.
