Justin Murphy, author of “Cleburne: A Graphic Novel,” will be in town Jan. 10 to take part in four events.
“Cleburne: A Graphic Novel,” recounts the last year of Gen. Patrick Cleburne’s life.
Murphy will host an informal breakfast and discussion at Chaf In Restaurant on 209 W. Henderson St. from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
A talk and book signing has been scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Layland Museum on 201 N. Caddo St. Murphy will discuss the research involved in his book, answer audience questions and sign copies of the book. Layland Museum houses Cleburne’s pistol and saddle.
A second book signing is scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Wright Plaza Building on 115 S. Main St. The Gen. Pat Cleburne Camp #436 under Commander Thomas Jones will host the second signing. Refreshments will be provided by the Julia Jackson United Daughters of the Confederacy #141. The Military Order of Stars and Bars #276 of Fort Worth will also be in attendance. Terry’s Texas Rangers, Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #1937 will be outside with two cannons and a gatling gun.
The Downtown Cleburne Association, Plaza Theatre, Action Signs, La Quinta Inn and Chaf In helped sponsor the events.
“Cleburne: A Graphic Novel” is $24.95. Copies are available at the Comic Boxx on 106 E. Henderson St. Copies will also be available for purchase during each of the author events.
