Cleburne police arrested a man Friday after he attempted to return merchandise purchased with a stolen credit card.

James Earl Evans III, 19, of Keene was taken into custody on a charge of credit card abuse for allegedly making two unauthorized purchases on the stolen credit card totaling $597.97.

Police responded to Hibbett Sports at 6:49 p.m. in reference to Evans attempting to return earlier purchased merchandise. An officer contacted Evans, who still had possession of the stolen card. Evans remains jailed at the Johnson County Corrections Center.
