Groundbreaking planned for school
Board meeting will follow ceremony
A groundbreaking ceremony for Joshua ISD’s new middle school is slated for 5:30 p.m. Monday at the site, off Farm-to-Market Road 1902 adjacent to Caddo Grove Elementary School.
The campus will house grades seven and eight. After its completion, Loflin Middle School will be converted into a ninth-grade campus.
The new middle school is part of a $44.87 million bond package that voters passed 622-620 in May.
After the groundbreaking, the board will reconvene at the district administration building for its March meeting.
On the agenda is the consideration of bids for structural steel, masonry labor and roofing services for the new middle school.
Also on the agenda is the consideration of a gas lease with Paloma Resources and Chesapeake Exploration and an additional oil and gas lease for newly acquired school property.
The cancelation of the district’s May 10 election is also on the agenda. Incumbents Ronnie Galbreath and David Taylor were the only individuals to file for spots on the board during the election’s filing period.
Superintendent Ray Dane is also slated to give reports on district enrollment, attendance, food services, financial investments, check registers and construction projects.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at 310 E. 18th St.
