Granbury Live’s Alecia Echols will be the featured music performer at the March 12 Cleburne Christian Leadership Prayer Breakfast at the Cleburne Civic Center. Doors will open at 6:30 a.m.
Echols began her singing career as a teenager in the church choir at Granbury’s Lakeside Baptist Church.
“After a few years in the choir, I realized I wanted to do more with my life,” she said. “So I auditioned for The Promise in Glen Rose.”
At the age of 15, Echols was given the role of “young Mary,” which she performed for two seasons. During her senior year of high school, Granbury Live President Russ Hearn asked her to audition for the Branson-style variety show after hearing her on a recording taped during a performance of The Promise.
“I was given an internship at Granbury Live and began performing in their concerts,” she said. “Soon after that, I was in every weekend show, year-round.”
A year later, she came to know a new member of the Granbury Live cast, a fiddle player named Mike Echols. It was love at first sight for both of them and they were married two years later.
Today, they reside in Mike’s hometown of Stephenville and are members of the First Baptist Church of Stephenville, where he serves as assistant to the minister of music.
“Every step of my life has been full of adventure,” she said. “Trying to understand where God wants me next has always been the fun part. I am so blessed with all I have been given, and my husband and I really enjoy getting to use our talents God has given us. We do not know what God has planned for us in the future, but we are really looking forward to it.”
The $5 tickets to the event may only be purchased in advance and are available from any prayer breakfast committee member or at the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce. The prayer breakfast is co-sponsored by the Cleburne Christian Business Club and the Cleburne High School chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
