Discussions about reworking Cleburne ISD’s campus attendance zones is on the agenda for the school board’s meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the district administration building, 505 N. Ridgeway Drive.
The board met Wednesday in a workshop to discuss the situation. Three new schools are set to open next fall, changing the district’s boundaries.
The board heard from demographer Leslie Johnston during the workshop to discuss some possible plans of action, but no definite decisions were made.
In addition to the campus boundary conflicts, other discussions emerged regarding which campuses would house early-childhood and pre-kindergarten classes.
While any of the elementaries can handle housing the early childhood and pre-k classes, Superintendent Robert Damron said, the board discussed whether the classes would fit better at the three new elementaries, as originally planned, or if another campus, such as Cooke Elementary, would be better suited.
However, the change could cause a campus such as Adams to expand it’s capacity, causing a domino effect at other campuses.
A solution to the problem is still in the planning stages, and should be addressed at the meeting.
Also on the agenda is a construction report about the progress of the new schools, and a public hearing to address the district’s superior rating from the First Financial Integrity Rating of Texas.
The three new elementaries to be built, each housing grades one through five, are Santa Fe Elementary, off Fergason Road near U.S. 67; Adams Elementary, east of South Brazos Road, off of County Road 429; and Irving, off of Hix Road, south of East Kilpatrick Street.

The Cleburne Yellow Jackets beat Burleson, 62-48, on Friday night at Yellow Jacket Gym to move to 2-7 in District 7-A play. Burleson fell to 2-7 in league play with the loss.

Fallen deputy Clifton Taylor’s sister, Megan Davis, takes a picture of a painting of her brother on Monday during a dedication to the deputy. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office renamed its building to the Clifton Taylor Law Enforcement Center in honor of the deputy who lost his life during a disturbance call in April. The picture was painted by Fort Worth artist Gary Crouch. Three pictures were made and one will hang in the Clifton Taylor Law Enforcement Center. The other two paintings were presented as gifts to Taylor’s parents and his fiancee.
