Texas 171 scene of two wrecks

Two wrecks occurred on Texas 171 Monday morning, one in Godley and the second in Cleburne. A CareFlite ambulance transported the driver of a water-tank truck involved in the Godley accident to Harris Methodist Fort Worth hospital.

Godley and Cresson firefighters responded to a three-vehicle wreck, which occurred about 9 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Texas 171 and County Road 1000. Officials on the scene said a pickup hauling a trailer and headed southbound stopped to turn onto CR 1000 from Texas 171 when a semi truck clipped the trailer from behind. The semi truck drove off the road and collided with a parked water-tanker truck.

A man in the parked water-tanker truck was about to drive off when the semi truck struck the back of his truck. While details of the driver’s condition were not known, Sgt. Joe McCready of the Godley Police Department said he did not think the man’s injuries were life threatening.

Cleburne firefighters responded to a wreck on Texas 171 near Katherine P. Raines Drive. No injuries resulted in the two-car accident, which occurred about 10 a.m. after a utility truck pulled in front of a pickup while attempting to turn off the access road and head north to Godley.
