Dishes disappear from area rooftops
Cleburne police are investigating the theft of a satellite dish from the roof of a residence Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of North Nolan River Road.
The police report stated that a man pulled his van or truck up to the residence, put his ladder up to the back of the residence, climbed up, cut the wires and removed the dish.
The property owner told police she didn’t know what happened until a neighbor told her.
The investigating officer said it appeared that two other satellite dishes had also been removed from other residences in the area.
However, property owners were not at home at the time.
Police received a couple similar reports concerning satellite receiver thefts last month.
Cleburne police Cmdr. N.H. Laseman said some companies or sub-contractors buy used satellite receivers, sell them to new customers and install them.
Police are also investigating the theft of two pneumatic wrenches from Rangaire Corp., on South Wilhite Street, worth more than $2,000.
The police report stated the theft occurred June 18 and police were notified June 28 following an internal investigation.
The theft was discovered June 19 after an employee witnessed the theft on a surveillance tape.
A global positioning satellite device, valued at $2,000, was reported stolen from Clarksville Refrigerated Corp., 1602 Sparks Drive.
The device was installed in a truck and when the driver’s contract was terminated he did not returned the GPS.
