Firefighters from Rio Vista and Cleburne responded to a truck fire in the 2400 block of Shale Circle on Monday. The incident occurred about 7:20 p.m.
Rio Vista firefighters arrived first to find the bed of a white Ford truck fully involved. Cleburne firefighters arrived a few minutes later to assist in putting the fire out.
The truck belongs to a business. An employee told firefighters that an employee used the truck in the Glen Rose area earlier in the day, but returned it to the yard about 6:15 p.m.
Company employees said they have no idea how the fire started. An air compressor and electric generator on the truck also sustained damage in the fire.
The fire’s cause remains under investigation by the fire marshal.
Cleburne firefighters responded to a kitchen fire in a house on the 900 block of Poindexter Avenue on Saturday.
The homeowner managed to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters found light smoke in the house and an electrical outlet that had melted and was still smoldering. Firefighters removed the plug to discover that wiring near the plug had also melted, but that the melting had not continued down the wiring.
Cutting a section of the wall around the outlet box revealed no signs of fire extension. The bottom side of the cabinets above the plug sustained charring and slight smoke damage. Firefighters sprayed the area then checked the area with a thermal imaging camera, but found no signs of heat extension.
Firefighters advised the woman to contact her landlord to conduct repairs before re-setting the breaker.
Firefighters responded to a reported electrical pole on fire Monday, but found no signs of fire or damage. A woman said lightning struck the pole, but rain put the fire out. Firefighters noted that a breaker on the pole had blown and notified the utility company before clearing the scene.
Firefighters responded to the 400 block of Ferguson Road Monday on a bee sting call. A boy, 5, was playing outside when several bees stung him. Firefighters treated the boy at the scene and his injuries did not require hospitalization.
Dog rescue
Responding to an animal-rescue call Friday, firefighters found a small dog with its right paw stuck in a bathtub drain. Holding the dog’s head so it couldn’t bite, firefighters managed to maneuver his body around and freed the paw. Additional details on the dog’s condition, or how it became stuck in a bathtub are not available.
Hook ’em horns
A UT fan apparently felt it was time to prepare for the upcoming football season, but must have been short on funds. The man allegedly stole UT orange and black sandals and shorts from Walmart on Saturday. Police cited the man for theft under $50.
Police responded to the 300 block of Odell Avenue on a theft call at 9:54 a.m. Monday. Sometime overnight, someone stole a 40-foot black Gooseneck flatbed trailer.
Police responded to the 1200 block of Willowbrook Drive at 12:37 p.m. the same day. Someone stole a guitar from a vehicle. Reports list the guitar as a black and yellow Epiphone in a hard, black case.
Police responded to the 1400 block of Glenhaven Drive at 4:57 p.m. the same day on a bicycle theft. Reports list the bike as a blue, 5-speed Roadmaster mountain bike.
Criminal mischief
Police responded to a vehicle break-in in the 500 block of North Main Street at 10:44 a.m. Saturday. Someone broke the window of a Chevrolet Suburban and damaged the truck’s ignition cover.
Police responded to the 1100 block of Sheridan Lane at 8:58 a.m. Monday. Someone sprayed graffiti on a garage door at the residence.
Police responded to the 1400 block of Kilpatrick Court at 7:47 p.m. the same day. Someone damaged a mailbox at the residence.

The Cleburne Yellow Jackets beat Burleson, 62-48, on Friday night at Yellow Jacket Gym to move to 2-7 in District 7-A play. Burleson fell to 2-7 in league play with the loss.

Fallen deputy Clifton Taylor’s sister, Megan Davis, takes a picture of a painting of her brother on Monday during a dedication to the deputy. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office renamed its building to the Clifton Taylor Law Enforcement Center in honor of the deputy who lost his life during a disturbance call in April. The picture was painted by Fort Worth artist Gary Crouch. Three pictures were made and one will hang in the Clifton Taylor Law Enforcement Center. The other two paintings were presented as gifts to Taylor’s parents and his fiancee.
