4 killed, 9 injured in wreck near Burleson

Four people were killed and nine others injured, two critically, in an accident east of Spinks Airport late Saturday night.
Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Terry Grisham said there is evidence that alcohol was involved.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved in the crash. But officials with Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson said Sunday morning that the church’s youth minister, Brian Jennings, was one of the four people who died at the scene, according to a Fort Worth paper.
Church officials said Jennings had stopped to help a stranded motorist.
Also killed were a mother and daughter who lived nearby and had come out of their house to help the stranded motorist.
Nine people believed to have been in the same vehicle are said to be students from Keller Central High School. Two of the nine are said to have been in critical condition when transported by helicopter to a Fort Worth hospital after the accident.
The driver of one of the vehicles was found wandering in a nearby neighborhood, about a quarter-mile from the scene of the accident, and was taken to a Fort Worth hospital.
The accident occurred in the 1500 block of Burleson-Retta Road just before midnight in an unincorporated part of Tarrant County after an SUV reportedly was disabled in the westbound lanes.
Deputies responding to the scene found four vehicles involved in the crash and four people dead at the scene.
A white pickup truck with damage to its rear end was found on the south side of the road, and an overturned red pickup truck was found heavily damaged on the north side of the road. An SUV was in the culvert of the westbound lane, and a red Volkswagon with minimal damage was in the eastbound lane.
