A Wednesday hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles remains under investigation, Cleburne police said. No charges have yet to be filed.
The accident occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the 600 block of West Kilpatrick Street.
The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado was westbound in the left-hand turn lane of West Kilpatrick, which was controlled by a green, unprotected left turn light.
The driver attempted to turn in front of a Mitsubishi Montero traveling eastbound in the right-hand lane of eastbound West Kilpatrick Street. The Mitsubishi driver had the right-of-way at the time, according to reports. Both vehicles collided in the intersection.
The Chevrolet driver fled, but his wife remained behind. The woman told police her husband fled because he had been drinking alcohol. Other witness at the scene told police the details of the accident.
The Mitsubishi driver, a 40-year-old Cleburne woman was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne. Details of her condition have not been released.
A single vehicle accident on July 19 resulted in no injuries to the driver and three passengers.
The accident occurred about 2:50 p.m. in the 100 block of Batterson Street.
The driver of a Ford Econoline E 250 told police he became distracted, which caused his vehicle to hit a curb, become airborne and land on a mailbox and a concrete water main cover.
Theft and damage calls
Police responded to a burglary call in the 1900 block of Joslin Street at 6:22 p.m. Wednesday.
Someone stole a man’s blue and white 2006 Yamaha YZ80 from a storage building in his backyard. The man told police that someone also entered his home while he was out of town, but added that nothing appears to be missing.
Police responded at 2:50 p.m. the same day to the 2500 block of North Main Street on a call involving burglary of a vehicle. The owner of a gray Dodge Ram 2500 told police he went to work from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and returned to his truck to find that his stereo system and an Ipod had been stolen.
Police responded to an earlier vehicle vandalism call the same day in the 1300 block of West Henderson Street. Someone broke the window of a woman’s vehicle.
A similar call came in at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, this one in the 1600 block of West Henderson Street. Someone keyed the passenger door of a Mitsubishi Montero down to the metal, causing about $300 worth of damage. The owner provided police with suspect information. Charges are pending on the outcome of the investigation, according to reports.
Police responded to the 700 block of East Willingham Street at 6:50 a.m. the same morning. Someone forced entry into a vehicle and made off with a wallet, money and a lawn mower.
Police responded to the 3200 block of Celeste Road at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. Someone slashed the rear tires of a vehicle.
That’s gotta hurt
Firefighters responded to the 400 block of Commerce Boulevard at 2:53 p.m. Tuesday.
A man said he tripped while stepping over a beam, which caused the nail gun he was carrying to discharge a nail into his foot. The man was sent to Texas Health Cleburne to be treated.
Firefighters responded to a report of smoke from a home in the 1500 block of Browning Street, but initially found nothing showing. Further investigation uncovered a malfunctioning blower motor in the air conditioner unit in the attic.
The overheated motor produced smoke, which was pulled back into the HVAC duct work and into the interior of the house. Firefighters shut off the unit at the breaker panel and told the homeowners to have the system repaired before turning it back on.

Fallen deputy Clifton Taylor’s sister, Megan Davis, takes a picture of a painting of her brother on Monday during a dedication to the deputy. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office renamed its building to the Clifton Taylor Law Enforcement Center in honor of the deputy who lost his life during a disturbance call in April. The picture was painted by Fort Worth artist Gary Crouch. Three pictures were made and one will hang in the Clifton Taylor Law Enforcement Center. The other two paintings were presented as gifts to Taylor’s parents and his fiancee.
