STEPHENVILLE — Seth Peugh, a junior horticulture business major from Rio Vista and Derek Doyle, a junior agricultural business major from Dripping Springs, proved they were some of the best in the business on Feb. 6 at the National Guard FLW College Fishing bass tournament on Sam Rayburn Reservoir, north of Beaumont.
The pair’s top catch weighed in at a whopping 8 pounds, 6 ounces, which placed the team third overall. It also earned the university $2,000 and Tarleton’s bass fishing club $2,000.
The third-place position also secures the team a slot in the Texas Regional Championship, with the chance to reel in as much as $25,000.
Two other members of Tarleton’s bass fishing club, Tanner Morgan, a senior wildlife management major from Tom Bean, and John Anderson, a junior agriculture service and development major from Stephenville, are headed to the national championship April 10-12 in Knoxville, Tenn.
The winning fishermen at the national tournament will receive $50,000 for their college and $50,000 for their bass fishing club.
