Cleburne and several other Johnson County cities will host Independence Day celebrations this week.
The Cleburne Chamber of Commerce and H-E-B Grocery once again host the annual fireworks show in Cleburne, which begins about at dark Friday at Lake Pat Cleburne.
“Every Fourth of July we celebrate our freedoms and everything that’s great about our country,” Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain said. “Thanks to a lot of good rainfall in recent weeks our lake is filling up again and we have one of the best fireworks displays in North Texas. So I encourage everyone to come out and to turn their radios to KCLE to enjoy the synchronized patriotic music during the display.”
Metal Shop is bringing the ’80s hair band music back on Friday, when they headline the city’s free Independence Day Celebration concert and fireworks show at Chisenhall Fields Sports Complex.
The 90-minute Fourth of July concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Chisenhall. The playlist includes Gun’s N’ Roses, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Ozzy, Metallica, Poison, Tesla, Winger, Cinderella, AC/DC, and more, in a “true ’80s rock arena style concert.”
This is the fourth year in a row that Chisenhall Fields will play host to the concert and fireworks show. Admission is free. The gates on the park at 500 W. Hidden Creek Pkwy. will open at 5 p.m.
The day’s celebration starts at 9 a.m. that day with the Burleson Lions Club’s annual parade. The theme is “Honoring our Military Heroes, Past and Present.” The parade route winds from Irene Street to Gregory, Johnson, Ellison, Main, Bufford, Warren, Gregory and back to Irene. Categories include vehicles, businesses, individuals, sports, equestrian, motorcycles, church, military and more. Entry fees range from $20-$30.
