Godley woman killed in hit-and-run

Godley police said they are investigating an accident and hit-and-run that left a 49-year-old Godley woman dead early Friday morning.

The woman, identified by Godley Police Chief James Healy as Carrie Fitzgerald, apparently rolled her car at a high rate of speed and was ejected in the 9000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 2331 South at about 1:35 a.m. Shortly thereafter, Healy said, it appears a tractor-trailer ran the woman over.

It is unclear whether she was already deceased when she was hit, Healy said. The driver failed to stop, and Healy said there would be no front-end damage to the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Godley police at 817-389-2500.
