Making his pitch

— State Rep. Rob Orr threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Texas Rangers’ 4-0 victory against the Minnesota Twins on Monday.

Orr, a lifelong baseball fan named after baseball Hall of Famers Robin Roberts of the Philadelphia Phillies and Duke Snider of the LA Dodgers, has coached his son’s baseball teams for more than 12 years, including one year when his team finished just one victory short of advancing to the Pony League World Series.

“This fulfills a lifelong dream to stand on the pitcher’s mound of a professional baseball team and throw out the opening pitch,” said Orr, R-Burleson. “The excitement of throwing out the first pitch and the Rangers’ 4-0 victory with two outs short of a combined no-hitter made for an exciting evening for me and my family.”
