The Johnson County Commissioners Court will conduct a public hearing on Monday and consider installation of a sign banning trucks on a county road near Lillian.
Johnson County Commissioner Jerry Stringer said he received a petition from residents on George Renfro Drive between Farm-to-Market 2738 and Becky Drive asking that trucks divert elsewhere.
“It’s a spur that comes out of Lillian over to [FM] 917 over to the east. It used to be [FM] 917 many years ago, but when they did a loop around Lillian, [TxDOT] gave that section of road back to the county,” Stringer said. “What these big trucks are doing is that they’re cutting through the road, about a half mile or quarter mile stretch, to get to [FM] 917. It’s just a quiet street with people that have lived in Lillian forever. [Trucks] can get to the same location by staying on the state highway.”
During Monday’s meeting, commissioners will also consider:
zx Awarding a bid for health insurance consultant services.
zx Declaring two 2003 Ford Crown Victoria vehicles from the sheriff’s office as surplus for auction.
zx Declaring a restraint chair from the sheriff’s office as salvage.
zx A system purchase agreement with Motorola Solutions Inc. and the Houston-Galveston Area Council for a communications system.
zx An engagement letter for outside auditors with Kennemer, Masters and Lunsford.
zx Budget amendments regarding insurance claims for the sheriff’s office; building repair and maintenance for the bank annex, Guinn building, Burleson Sub-Courthouse, health building, Hamm Creek Park and precinct 1 justice of the peace; and technology fund fees and services for precinct 3 justice of the peace.
zx Investments as required by county policy.
zx Proposed funding amount for expansion of the jail facility with LaSalle Southwest Corrections.
zx A memorandum of agreement with the Texas Department of Public Safety for a grant for records management/jail management and computer-aided dispatch software solution.
zx A request for unclaimed money from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
zx A facility maintenance management program with Facility Dude for a maintenance work order system.
zx Submitting an application for the 2011 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program grant.
zx Official bonds and oaths for Steve Williams and Ronny Eller, precinct 1 deputy constables.
zx Continuation certificate bonds for Paul Gaumond, precinct 2 deputy constable, and Linda Rowe, county mail clerk.
The commissioners meet at 9 a.m. Monday in Room 201 of the Johnson County Courthouse at 2 Main St. in Cleburne.

Wind tipped a vase holding a single rose shattering it on the pavement. A hastily retrieved replacement held out but at one point toppled causing water to spill inches shy of the public announcement speaker.
