Trinity Habitat for Humanity of Fort Worth is seeking potential Habitat for Humanity home owners in the Cleburne area.
An orientation session is scheduled at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Cleburne Public Library at 302 W. Henderson.
Those interested in becoming Habitat home owners must meet the following criteria:
zx A need for shelter, income too low to qualify for a traditional mortgage, or problems with current housing, such as paying more than 30 percent of monthly income for housing expenses, living in an overcrowded situation, living in a home with structural, electrical or plumbing problems, etc.
zx An ability to pay for shelter, residency in Tarrant, Johnson or Parker County for at least 12 months and residence at current address for at least 12 months.
zx Been in current job for at least 12 months.
zx Income falls within certain guidelines.
zx You need to have been on your current job for at least 12 months.
zx Your income falls within the financial guidelines that are available from Habitat.
zx Willingness to partner with Habitat. Habitat does not charge interest or down payment for its houses. It builds with the support of volunteer labor. The only payment made by a homeowner prior to closing on the home is the first year’s insurance.
Those selected to partner with Habitat will need to make the following commitments: provide the required documentation and application information and complete 300 hours of sweat equity building with Habitat.
