Boy hit by car returns home

Matt Smith/msmith@trcle.com

The 3-year-old Cleburne boy hospitalized after his bicycle struck a car was released Friday from Cook Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. “We’re on our way home with him, thank God,” said Sonya Ferretiz, the boy’s mother.

A CareFlite helicopter transported Aaron Ferretiz to the hospital Wednesday. Ferretiz and several friends were riding bicycles around his driveway and in the street near his home in the 1300 block of Roberts Avenue, according to reports, when he pulled in front of a woman driving a Hyundai who was unable to stop.

Sonya Ferretiz said her son suffered a fractured skull but had no internal bleeding or swelling of the brain. She said doctors hospitalized him for a couple of days to monitor his progress. He is feeling better and doing well, she said.

Police did not charge or cite the Hyundai’s driver in the accident.
