Cleburne police arrested a suspect Friday who led one officer on a foot chase through several yards and streets.
Officer Wesley Mackey arrested Roy B. Keever, 32, of Cleburne after he ran into the garage and home of an 89-year-old woman and her 91-year-old husband.
Police responded to the 1000 block of Princeton Place at 10:06 a.m. on a call from Keever’s ex-wife who said he was armed, threatening her and threatening to set her house on fire.
Keever ran off as officers arrived, according to Cleburne Police Department reports, and Mackey gave chase, losing his police radio in the process.
After Keever ran into the couple’s garage and home, Mackey ordered him at gunpoint to get on the ground, handcuffed him, and called police dispatch on his cell phone to alert officers of his location. The couple told police they did not know Keever and did not give him permission to enter their property.
Police also located a gun Keever apparently dropped while fleeing, said Sgt. Amy Knoll. They arrested him on charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon, criminal trespass and evading detention.
Keever remains jailed at the Johnson County Corrections Center on bonds totaling $110,000.
